YouTube without an account is possible but there are many advantages to being signed in. Some users have had a hard time while trying to add an account as YouTube won’t let them sign in for some reason. Because the problem is not limited to a single platform, we made sure to provide solutions for Android, iOS, and PC users. Check them out below.

How do I fix YouTube not letting me sign in?
Before we move to troubleshoot the issue, navigate to Google Account Management and make sure that your account is safe. You can do that under the Security tab. If you suspect something, make sure to reset your password. Now that this is out of the way, check the steps we provided below based on your device.
1. Can’t sign into YouTube on Android
If you can’t sign into YouTube on Android, the Google Account is the problem more times than not. Make sure that Google Play Services and Google Services Framework is installed on your device if you have a Huawei smartphone. YouTube should sign automatically with the Google Account you use on your device. If that’s not the case, removing the Google Account and adding it again should help.
Also, you can uninstall updates from the YouTube app or try rolling back to an older version with an APK. Here’s how to troubleshoot YouTube sign-in issues on Android:
- Clear data from the app and try again. Navigate to Settings > Apps > YouTube > Storage and clear data.
- Uninstall updates and update YouTube. Open Settings > Apps > YouTube > 3-dots menu > Uninstall updates. Open Play Store and update YouTube.
- Disable VPN, proxy, or system-wide adblockers.
- Rollback to an older version by following these instructions.
- Remove the Google Account and add it again. Open Settings > Accounts > Manage accounts > Google Account.
Remove the Google Account and restart your device. Add the account again and check for improvements.
Have in mind that this applies only to the official YouTube app and not the apps like Vanced or Piped for YouTube. Those apps require MicroG to simulate Google Cloud Services so you can sign in with your account.
2. Fix YouTube sign-in issues on iOS
If you experience sign-in issues on iOS, the troubleshooting process is similar to Android. Of course, you can’t uninstall updates from the app or install an older version from third-party sources. On the other hand, you can remove and add your Google Account once again and reinstall the app.
Here’s how to troubleshoot YouTube sign-in issues on iOS (iPhone or iPad):
- Add Google Account. Tap Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Google. If you already have a Google Account (Gmail account) make sure to remove it and add it again. Make sure to follow through when you get the Google prompt or other 2-step verification method. If not, you won’t be able to sign in.
- Reinstall YouTube. Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage > YouTube > Delete App. Open App Store and install YouTube again. Try signing in.
3. YouTube not letting me sign in on the PC
Based on reports, the majority of YouTube users run into these issues on their PC. Browser issues with YouTube (especially browsers that are not Chrome) are quite frequent. Make sure to disable all extensions and try signing in again. If that doesn’t help, clear cached data for YouTube only or clear all data by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
Also, make sure that the browser is up to date (3-dots menu > About) and temporarily disable VPN or Proxy. You can try using an alternative browser, and we recommend Chrome or Edge (based on Chromium) because it’s known that YouTube and other Google services work worse on Firefox or Opera.
Here’s how to troubleshoot YouTube sign-in issues on your PC:
- Disable extensions. You can try the Incognito mode to see if YouTube works without extensions. If it does, disable extensions. If not, clear the YouTube cache.
- Clear cached data from YouTube. While on youtube.com, click on the padlock in the address bar and open Site settings. Clear all data and try signing in.
- Clear all browser data. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and check all the boxes.
- Reinstall the browser or switch to Chrome/Edge.
