What to do if Twitter cannot create a new account (FIX)

Why can’t I create a Twitter account?

If you can’t create a new Twitter account on Android, clear the local data, reinstall the Twitter app or create the account in an alternative way.

Solution 1 – Reset the app’s cache

Let’s start with the app itself. The Twitter app, like any other social network client for smartphones, tends to pile up a lot (and I mean A LOT) of cached data. These files, in theory, should reduce the loading time. By doing so, they allow you to see the multimedia content as fast as possible.

Of course, if you’ve just installed Twitter, this won’t do you any good. The cache is stored only after you log in. However, if you’ve used the app successfully and now it won’t allow you to create a new Twitter account, follow the steps below to clear cache and data:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Apps (Application Manager).
3. Open Twitter.
4. Choose Storage.
5. Tap Clear Data.

Solution 2 – Reinstall the app

Reinstalling the app might help, as well. We still wouldn’t keep high hopes, as there’s a chance that the recent iteration of the Twitter app is suffering from some kind of bug. However, since there’s only so much you can do regarding similar issues, it won’t cost you a thing.

Here’s how to reinstall the Twitter app on Android:

1. Open Settings > Apps > Twitter.
2. Uninstall the app.
3. Now, open Backup settings and disable Automatic restore.
4. Open the Play Store and install Twitter.
5. Try creating an account again.

Solution 3 – Download the older iteration or try a 3rd-party alternative

If the current release of Twitter for Android just fails to work as intended, rolling back to an older version should relieve you of the error. This can be done by downloading and installing an APK installation file from the APK mirror.

Follow these steps to try it out:

1. Uninstall Twitter.
2. Navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings> Security.
3. Enable installation of non-official apps.
4. With a phone web browser, navigate to the APK Mirror website.
5. Browse available Twitter versions, choose an older iteration, and download it to your device.
6. Install the APK and open Twitter.
7. You should be able to create a new Twitter account now.

Solution 4 – Create an account in a different way

Follow these instructions to create a Twitter account outside of the Twitter app:

1. Open Chrome (or any other browser) on your Android device.
2. Open Settings and check the “Desktop site” box.
3. Navigate to Twitter.com.
4. Choose Sign up and create the account with the required credentials.
5. Make sure to open the confirmation email and confirm the Twitter account.
6. Now, you should be able to sign into the Twitter app for Android without any issues.
