How to Fix: Snapchat Videos not Sending

Snapchat made a huge breakthrough and redefined the way users around the globe share images, videos, or messages on mobile devices. And if Snapchat is not sending videos for any reason, we can safely conclude that there’s not much use for it. Which is, seemingly, the case for many users.

We read through user reports and made sure to provide you with a few applicable solutions for the problem at hand. Check them out below.

  1. Clear the app’s cache and data
  2. Update Snapchat
  3. Reinstall Snapchat
  4. Check the connection
  5. Check the permissions
  6. Confirm Snapchat status and send a support ticket

Why are my Snapchat videos not sending?

Snapchat is a specific social media app and it is slowly losing the traction it once had. Frequent issues are one of the reasons for this. If your Snapchat is not sending videos, it’s usually due to a pilled-up cache or connection issues.

You should first ensure that the user you are trying to send videos to has you on your friend list. After that, reboot your device and try again. If the problem persists, check the steps below.

Solution 1 – Clear the app’s cache and data

The first thing to do is to clear the cache and data from the Snapchat app. Due to a pilled-up cache, certain third-party apps tend to get slow or even some functions suddenly stop working.

The pilled-up data will include saved Snaps, so make sure to back them up before clearing everything.

Follow these instructions to clear the data and cache from Snapchat:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Apps (Apps Manager or Manage apps).
  3. Locate and open Snapchat from the Apps list.
  4. Select Storage.
  5. Tap Clear Cache and then tap Clear Data.

  6. Reboot your device and then sign in with your credentials.

If Snapchat is still not sending videos, move to the next step.

Solution 2 – Update Snapchat

We all can agree that the Snapchat app for Android (especially in comparison to the iOS version) was and still is an underwhelming experience. Post-update bugs emerge with almost every new update and fixes are scarce.

However, that still doesn’t mean that you should keep your apps out of date. By default, updates are automatically administered or you can check for updates in the Play Store.

Alternatively, you can download an older functioning APK. Some users managed to address the problem by downgrading to an older version. Just search for Snapchat APK on your device, select an older public version, and install it.

Solution 3 – Reinstall Snapchat

Alternatively, you can reinstall the app and start from scratch. Just don’t forget to back up downloaded media files and reboot your device after you reinstall the app. If the first solution did not work, we can hardly guarantee reinstallation will make a difference.

Nonetheless, give it a go and see for yourself:

  1. Open the Play Store and search for Snapchat.
  2. Tap Uninstall.
  3. Install Snapchat again and reboot your handset.snapchat play store
  4. Sign in with your credentials and look for improvements.

Solution 4 – Check the connection

Another kind of obvious reason why Snapchat is not sending videos is an inadequate connection. Ensure that you are connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. If your connection is unstable, chances are videos won’t be able to send.

Here are some tips for you to troubleshoot connection issues:

  • Disable and re-enable Wi-Fi.
  • Restart your device and router/modem.
  • Enable Airplane mode and disable it after a minute or so.
  • Reset the Network settings.reset network settings 1

Solution 5 – Check the permissions

Usually, all necessary permissions are asked for once you start the app. However, there’s a slight chance that you denied the Storage permission which is required in order to store and send videos on Snapchat.

Follow these steps to check and enable permissions on Snapchat:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > App Manager or Manage Apps > Snapchat.
  2. Select Permissions.
  3. Grant Storage permission to Snapchat.
    grant storage permission snapchat

Solution 6 – Confirm Snapchat status and send a support ticket

Finally, if Snapchat is still not sending videos, we suggest checking the server status. Even though it rarely happens, Snapchat servers might be down for an undefined period. You can check the status on the Down Detector or on Snapchat’s official Twitter handle.

Alternatively, you can contact support either on the aforementioned Twitter handle or on the official Support page. Although, user comments state that the support tends to neglect their reports, it’s worth a try.

With that said, we can conclude this article. Thanks for reading, in case you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to tell us in the comments section below.
