How to Fix Iphone X Running Slow Issue

It’s out of the question that the iPhone X is a revolutionary phone in terms of features and abilities. But it’s also revolutionary and trend-setting in terms of pricing. And for a phone that costs $1000+, you expect to get a little piece of perfection.

Unfortunately, nothing in this world is perfect, and neither is the iPhone X. I imagine your disappointment when you find out that your expensive phone is lagging and performing poorly. But worry not, because the iPhone X is amazingly optimized, and sometimes even a small tweak can make a big difference.

So, if you’re cursing the day you paid that much for a phone – don’t! Instead, check out the solutions presented below, and I hope you’ll be able to make your phone as swift as the wind once again.

6 Solutions to Fix iPhone X Running Slow Issue

Solution 1 – Update your Iphone

Unlike the hardware, iOS updates are not always so well-optimized. Mostly because developers simply don’t have enough time to test them throughout. So, the lagging/stuttering problem on your iPhone X may be coming from the software end, after all. Especially if we keep in mind that almost every iOS update (even the minor ones) causes some problems for some users.

If a faulty update is indeed the problem, the lagging problem will simply resolve itself. As soon as Apple releases a new update. So, don’t panic, and keep going through the stutter, everything will fall into its own place soon.

Solution 2 – Update your apps

The same thing applies to iOS apps. In the beginning, most of them weren’t even optimized for the iPhone x. Luckily, by now (almost a year after the iPhone X release), everything should work seamlessly. But even though apps look good on your phone, that doesn’t mean something else inside them doesn’t cause the lag.

So, head over to the App Store and make sure all your apps are up to date.

Solution 3 – Keep an eye on storage

That 256 GB of storage should be enough, right? Well, you’d be surprised how fast you can fulfill even a huge storage capacity for smartphone standards that the iPhone X boasts. And be honest, what was the last time you checked on the available storage on your phone?

Just like it’s the case with any smartphone/computer/everything, full storage capacity usually means slower performance. So, just to be sure, head over to Settings and check your storage.

In case you’re not sure how just follow these instructions:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General > [Device] Storage.
  3. Here you’ll find numerous optimization tips to free up some storage space. Act according to these tips, or delete some unused apps, or even move some of your pictures and music to iCloud.

Solution 4 – Close some apps

The fact that the iPhone X is such a powerful device probably makes you think you can put as much weight on it as you want. Well, you’re wrong. Everything has its breaking point, and so does the iPhone X.

So, before you carry on with the troubleshooting process, open the Task Manager and close some apps you’re not using. Once again, you might be surprised with how many apps you actually have running.

Solution 5 – Turn Off Background App Refresh and Location services

A lot of users have reported that two particular services tend to make their phones a bit sluggish. These services are the Background App Refresh service and (surprisingly) the Location service. So, we’re going to temporarily disable these services to see if it makes a difference.

To disable Background App Refresh, simply go to Settings > General, and switch Background App Refresh off.

To disable the Location service, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down and open Privacy Location Services.
  3. Toggle the Location Services button off.

Solution 6 – Reset all settings

If you still can’t find the real culprit of the problem, maybe it’s time for some resetting. First thing first, we’re going to reset your settings.

Here’s how to reset all your settings at once:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Head over to General Reset.
  3. Tap Reset All Settings.
  4. Confirm and wait for the process to finish.

Solution 7 – Factory reset your phone

Finally, as a last resort, and if none of the previous solutions worked, you can also try factory resetting your phone. But remember to do this only if you can’t find any other solution to the lagging problem.

Also, remember to back up all your files and data so you can restore them quickly.

Here’s how to factory reset your iPhone X:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. Confirm the selection and start the process (later on, you can choose Restore from the iCloud Backup feature).

That’s about it. I certainly hope at least one of these solutions helped you resolve the lagging and stuttering problem on your iPhone X. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, just write them down below in the comments.
