Although many people rely on third-party instant messengers for their group chats, there’s an important advantage of using the built-in Messages solution. Messages will come through as text (SMS) even if you are not connected to the internet. However, some users report that their iPhone is not getting group texts. The salvo of messages comes through only when they restart the device. If you are among them, check the steps we listed below.

Why are my group Messages not coming through?
1. Restart your iPhone
The first thing to do is go for the restart. Some users even claim that that’s the only temporary solution. After a restart, all group messages come through. Of course, it’s not a solution as there’s still a problem with incoming group messages.
Also, make sure that you have enough storage space on your device. Some multimedia files might not go through if your handset is low on storage space.
For the complete solution, we’ll need to go to Messages settings and check a few things before, finally, resetting Network Settings.
2. Check Messages Settings
There are a few things you need to enable in Messages in order for group messages with mixed devices (Androids and iPhones) to work.
There are two options that you need to be enabled in order for Group Messaging on Messages to work for senders/recipients with Android devices.
Here’s what you need to do on your iPhone:
- Firstly, check your SIM card and make sure that it’s activated, properly placed, and that you have network coverage.
- Then, navigate to Settings > Messages.
- Enable Send as SMS and MMS Messaging options.
- Check for improvements.
If your iPhone is still not getting group texts, try updating the firmware.
3. Update iOS
Keeping your device up to date is essential. There are hardly any reports of the problem on iOS 14 so, if your device supports the latest iteration of iOS, get it as soon as possible.
Updates are usually administered automatically but you can check and download updates manually by following these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Choose Software Update.
- Download and install updates, if available.
4. Reset Network Settings
Finally, the most probable solution for the problem at hand is resetting Network Settings. This action will erase all changes you made in network settings and restore them to factory defaults. It will also clear all saved Wi-Fi networks, Cellular Data and APN settings, and the list of devices paired over Bluetooth.
Here’s how to Reset Network Settings on your iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings.
- Enter password or PIN and then confirm the selection. After that, your iPhone will reboot on its own.
That should do it. We thank you for reading and encourage you to leave your comments in the comments section found just below.
