Fix: iMessage doesn’t show “delivered” on sent texts

Published

iMessage has been an essential part of iOS since the beginning. This native messaging app for iPhones is probably one of the features that showcase a general simplicity and usability of iOS. However, over time, it has undergone so many changes, that’s hard to find your way around, especially after updates.

After updating to iOS 10.3.2, users had a problem with the ”Delivery report” feature which, logically, informs you that the message you’ve sent is received. Namely, they’re unable to get the  ‘Delivered’ indicator no matter what they do. Basically, there is a few reasons community has suspected, but we can’t confirm them with certainty.

As you know, this functions only with the iMessage. If you send just a text message, you won’t be able to see is the message delivered or not. On the other hand, if you’ve sent the iMessage with the blue mark, you should be able to get a ”Delivered” indicator. Now, there are some things you should take into consideration if you’re still unable to see the indicator:

  • The recipient blocked you.
  • The recipient has enabled Do Not Disturb or it is offline at the moment.
  • You are offline at the moment.

So, basically, the iMessage you’ve sent is stored on Apple’s servers and will remain there until it’s delivered. Once it’s delivered to a recipient, you should see the blue indicator.

If that’s not the case, you can try the following workarounds and, hopefully, resolve the problem at hand:

  • Restart your device.
  • Make sure to enable the iMessage feature. Open Settings > Messages, and enable iMessage.
  • Make sure that you’re connected since the iMessage feature depends on connection.
  • Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
  • Resend the message.

After that, you should be able to receive the delivery reports again. Of course, as we already stated, this heavily depends on the recipient. So, make sure that everything works on both sides.
