The fact that most Chromebooks have access to Play Store makes this platform quite versatile despite usual hardware and system limitations. However, the sad fact is that many Android apps that usually work on smartphones don’t have a version of ChromeOS. Sometimes, even though the app is available, it’s not adapted for ChromeOS so it’s not worth the trouble. In Hulu’s case, the Android app from this streaming service doesn’t support Chromebooks. However, even if you don’t have an Android Hulu app for your Chromebook, you can still enjoy the content from this streaming service. Learn how below.
Does Hulu have an app for Chromebook?
No, at this exact moment, Hulu doesn’t offer an Android app that’s optimized for ChromeOS and Chromebooks. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because many streaming services that do provide an app are not doing us any favors and most users will gravitate towards streaming content in the Chrome browser. Unless you want to download content and save it for offline viewing in which case this is an obvious drawback.
Also, some users report that their Chromebooks are just not supported by Hulu. This is the case if your Chromebook is outdated (not getting updates from Google). Because of the nature of the system, the Chrome browser will not get updates, too, and Hulu seemingly doesn’t work if you run an old version of Chrome.
How to watch Hulu on your Chromebook
Watching Hulu on your Chromebook is pretty straightforward. Just open Chrome and navigate to Hulu. Once there, sign in with your Hulu credentials and start watching. If Chrome won’t work, you can download an alternative browser from Play Store and try it out. Based on reports, Firefox or Opera work just fine with the Hulu web client.
In addition, you can install the web app if you navigate to Hulu in Chrome. Once you sign in, click on the 3-dots menu and select More tools > Create a shortcut. This is the closest you can be to having a dedicated Hulu app on your Chromebook.
In case of issues and if you’re positive that your Chromebook hasn’t reached the AUE (Auto Update Expiration) date, make sure to update it and clear the cache for Hulu.
