If Google Home doesn’t provide you with timely camera notifications, you are not alone. It seems that Google is working on fixing major issues like that and we expect them sorted out in the near future. In the meanwhile, you can try fixing the problem on your own with the instructions we provided below.

How do I turn on camera notifications for Google Home?
You can turn on camera notifications in Google Home under Settings > Notifications. Have in mind that certain features require the Nest Aware subscription and that older Nest cameras might not work on Google Home all that well because Google is, well, Google. You can always use Google Nest App to get notifications, too. Even emails.
1. Restart your Android and the Nest Cam
Start by restarting your Android or iPhone and the Nest Cam. You can still, to an extent, use the Google Nest app to get some notifications on older devices, but Google being Google streamlined control of newer devices to Google Home, which is, all things considered, not ideal. Make sure that the device is connected after the reboot.
If the restart did nothing and Google Home still doesn’t provide camera notifications based on your preferences, check the next step.
2. Check Notification settings
Most reports we found come from iPhone users but those were seemingly solved after the iOS update. On the other hand, if you still experience issues, we suggest an in-depth inspection of notification settings. To check notification settings in the Google Home app, tap Settings, and select Notifications. The process is similar on the Nest app, where you must also open Settings > Notifications and select the device.
In addition, on Android, you can navigate to Settings > Apps > Google Home > Notifications. On iOS, open Settings > Google Home > Notifications.
3. Reinstall Google Home
Some users suggest that reinstalling Google Home fixed the problem for them, especially on iOS. If Google Home doesn’t show camera notifications, reinstall the app from Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Get the app again from App Store.
On Android, navigate to Play Store, locate Google Home, and uninstall the app there. You can immediately install it from the app screen.
Once you sign in again, check the Notification settings. Hopefully, you’ll get all critical notifications and alerts without issues in the future.
With that said, we can conclude this article. If you still have issues, report them in the Google Home app, under your Account > Help & feedback. Thank you for reading and don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below. We look forward to hearing from you.
