Google recently announced that unlimited storage in Google Photos won’t be a thing anymore starting June 21st, 2021, and uploads to Google Drive will count against the 15GB cap. On the other side, the Drive itself is having issues with video processing, and many users are getting the Video is still processing when they try to download video files from Google Drive.

Can’t download videos from Google Drive
If you can’t download videos from Google Drive and the Video is still processing prompt appears (even for videos that are long-time uploaded), we encourage you to try the Share link workaround which is explained below. If that fails, make sure that your connection is stable and try signing out of your account. Finally, consider re-uploading the video.
1. Create a Share link and try that way
Some users suggested creating a share link and downloading the video file that way. Allegedly, that’s the best way to avoid the Google Drive Video is still processing error.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Select the video in question and tap Share.
- Choose the Create a link option.
- Open a browser and paste the link in the address bar.
- Download the video from there.
2. Check your connection
In addition, make sure that you are not having connectivity issues on your handset. Go through these steps if you are uncertain about your wireless network:
- Restart your handset and wireless router.
- Disconnect and connect your device again.
- Disable Bluetooth temporarily.
- Reset Network Settings.

3. Sign out and sign in to your account again
Some users suggested signing out of your Google Account and signing in again. This is a long-term bug that started before Google Drive and Google Photos storage were separated.
Follow these steps to sign out and sign in to your Google Account again:
- Open Settings.
- Choose Accounts.
- Select Google Account.
- Remove the account.
- Restart your device and sign in again.
4. Re-upload the video file to Google Drive
Finally, you can try and re-upload the video directly to Google Drive instead of Google Photos. The bogus issue we are running into possibly has a lot to do with the fact that Google is on and off their decision to merge Google Drive and Google Photos. So, uploaded videos (HD and large in size) are frequently not processed as intended.
