Google app crashing on iPhone? Check these solutions

Why is the Google app not working on my iPhone?

Google apps and services on iOS are exceptionally well-optimized and usually, work without issues. However, eventually, everyone runs into a bug or two along the way. Some users report that Google App keeps crashing on their iPhones or iPad. We suspect a faulty update caused this and explain how to solve it below.

Table of contents:

  1. Update the Google app
  2. Reinstall the Google app
  3. Reset All Settings

Why is the Google app not working on my iPhone?

There are multiple reasons but, based on previous occurrences, we can conclude that the current Google app release is unstable. Updating or reinstalling the app should fix that for you.

Also, make sure that your system is up to date, and that Google App has the necessary permissions, and report the problem to Google so the fix can come sooner rather than later.

1. Update the Google app

The first thing to do is to update the Google app. There were a few instances where an update will completely break the app but Google was fast to provide a solution. So, check for updates and install the latest available version. If there are no updates for the Google app, try to reinstall it or wait for some time. Based on previous experiences we gathered on the web, the fix comes quickly.

To update the Google app, open the App Store and tap on the profile icon at the top right corner. Tap Update All to update all apps. Once the app updates, restart your iPhone (or iPad) and see if the Google app keeps crashing.

2. Reinstall the Google app

The next thing you can do is reinstall the Google app from App Store. Most users that run into the problem managed to resolve it by reinstalling the app. This is especially useful if the issues started after an update which seems to happen to most users. Reinstalling a misbehaving app is probably the most you can do on iOS either way.

Here’s how to reinstall the Google app on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose iPhone Storage.
  4. Open Google.
  5. Tap Delete App.google app crashing on iphone
  6. Restart your device and open App Store.
  7. Download and install Google App again.
  8. Open Settings > Google and ensure to grant the necessary permissions.

3. Reset All Settings

Finally, some users tried the Reset All Settings approach and claim that this fixed the problem. We decided to include it on the list although we beg to differ as this is an obvious app problem. Still, if you can’t wait for Google to solve this and have some reasons to believe your system is at the fault, you can give it a go. Resetting All Settings on your iPhone won’t delete any of your data but you’ll need to tweak and restore some settings afterward.

Here’s how to Reset All Settings on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Choose Reset and select Reset All Settings.google app crashing on iphone
  5. Confirm when prompted.

And, with that said, we can conclude this article. In case you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to share them with us. Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing from you.
