IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number allows your device to be tracked in case it gets stolen or lost. Also, it definitely comes in handy if you are buying a used (or refurbished) smartphone (shipped from abroad) to check for its seller’s legitimacy.

Method 1: Use the dialer shortcut
The first method is to use the dialer code which, when dialed, will show your IMEI number on Android 10. The code is usually universal, but there might be a few differences for some OEMs. If that’s the case for your device, go to the second method or Google IMEI for your particular OEM/device.
Just open the stock Dialer app (third-party dialer apps won’t work) then type *#06# and dial it. In case you have a dual-SIM device, you’ll see two numbers for each SIM card.
Method 2: Check IMEI in Settings
For the second method, you can navigate to Settings > About phone (or My phone > All specs > Status). Once there, just scroll to the bottom to get IMEI on Android 10.
But what to do with IMEI once you have it? Write it down just in case. This can be used by the police to track your device. Also, you can navigate to IMEI Info or on similar websites, put 15 IMEI numbers in, and confirm that you got what you paid for.
