How to set Custom Notification sounds on Samsung Galaxy S22

How do I change individual notification sounds on Galaxy S22?

Having a particular notification sound for different apps is great and easy to set up on the Samsung Galaxy S22. We made sure to explain how to do it by using custom or stock sounds below.

Table of contents:

  1. Set any audio file as a notification sound
  2. Use third-party apps to get new sounds
  3. Change individual notification sounds on Samsung Galaxy S22

How do I change individual notification sounds on Galaxy S22?

You can change individual notification sounds on Galaxy S22 in Settings > Apps, under Notification settings > Notification categories. You can set any supported audio files as the notification sound by adding the sound manually or by using an app like Zedge.

1. Set any audio file as a notification sound

Moving virtually any audio file to the Notifications folder will appear in the Sound Picker, on the list of custom notification sounds in Sound and vibration. The same applies to the Ringtones folder, although OneUI 5 allows you to enter the phone’s media gallery and choose ringtones. This isn’t the case for notifications and you need to move files to the Notifications folder. The list of supported audio formats you can use as notifications or ringtones includes MP3, WAV, AAC, AMR, and others.

So, if you can get your hands on a good audio snippet and store it locally on your Samsung Galaxy S22, it shouldn’t be a major problem to set it as the default notification sound.

Here’s how to move an audio file to the Notifications folder and make it available as a notification sound:

  1. Open Samsung My Files.
  2. Select Internal storage.
  3. Open Download or any other folder where the audio file you want to use is stored.
  4. Tap and hold on to the sound you want to use and select Move from the toolbar at the bottom.galaxy s22 custom notification sound
  5. Go back and open Notifications. If you can’t see the Notifications folder, tap on the 3-dots menu and choose to Create folder. Name it Notifications.
  6. Tap Move here.
  7. Now, close My Files and open Settings.
  8. Tap Sounds and vibration.
  9. Tap Notification sound.
  10. Under the Custom section at the top, select the notification sound you added.

2. Use third-party apps to get new sounds

The problem with custom notification sounds is that it’s not simple to find one as it is to set it up. Luckily, you can also use a plethora of third-party apps to get particular notification sounds.

I’ve personally used Zedge for the longest time, despite the fact that the app has been ridden with ads for quite a while. Nonetheless, thanks to community contribution, you can find almost anything that comes to mind including audio snippets from popular movies and TV shows, songs, or games.

With other apps, like InShot MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker, you can cut audio from audio tracks and create sound snippets to fit better for notifications or ringtones.

3. Change individual notification sounds on Samsung Galaxy S22

Once you manage to add a custom notification sound to the Sound picker, you might as well assign different notification sounds to different apps. That’s a great way to make a distinction between different apps.

Here’s how to change notification sounds for individual apps on Samsung Galaxy S22:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Choose an app.
  4. Tap Notifications.
