Got the “Verify contact information” message in Apple Pay? Here’s what to do
If you get the “Verify contact information” message in Apple Pay, you should check if you’ve entered all your contact info correctly. Including your billing/shipping address and phone number. If your info is correct and in the right format, you can also check the server status, to make sure the Apple Pay server isn’t down.
More details are below.
1. Enter your billing address correctly
The first thing you should do is verify if you’ve entered your billing/shipping address correctly. If the address you’ve entered is different from the address listed on your debit card, you might have problems verifying your contact info in Apple Pay. To make sure everything’s in order, you’ll have to check your address in multiple places. Here’s exactly what you need to do:
Check your address in Settings
The first place to check if your address is correct is inside the Wallet & Apple Pay section in Settings. Here’s how:
- Go to Settings.
- Head over to Wallet & Apple Pay > Shipping Address.
- Verify that the address is the same as the one listed on the card. If there’s no shipping address listed, tap Enter New Shipping Address, and enter the address.
Check your address in Apple Pay
Now, we move over to the Wallet app:
- Open Wallet.
- Tap the card you want to edit and tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Tap Billing Address.
- Verify that the address is the same as the one listed on the card. If there’s no billing address listed, tap Enter New Billing Address, and enter the address.
Check your address in Apple ID
And finally, let’s check the shipping address associated with your Apple ID:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap [your name] and head over to Payment & Shipping.
- Verify that the address is the same as the one listed on the card. If there’s no shipping address listed, tap Add Shipping Address, and enter the address.
2. Verify your phone number
One user confirmed on Apple Forums that not having the phone number or even using the wrong phone number format can cause the “Verify contact information” message to appear. So, you should also make sure you entered your phone number in the correct format. Here’s how to do that:
- Go to Settings.
- Head over to Wallet & Apple Pay > Phone.
- If there’s no phone number, tap Add Phone Number and enter your phone number.
- Now, try using Apple Pay again. If you’re still having problems, get back to the phone number settings and change the format of the phone number. Try one of the following formats:
- 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX
- (XXX) XXX-XXXX
3. Check the Apple Pay server status
If you’re positive that all your contact info is correct, but you’re still getting the “Verify contact information” message in Apple Pay, there’s a chance the Apple Pay servers are down. Since this is an outside factor, there’s nothing you can do about it, except wait for Apple to fix its servers. Luckily, Apple should be quick to tackle any server issue, so the service will probably be up and running sooner rather than later.
You can check the Apple Pay server status.
That’s about it. I hope at least one of these solutions helped you with the “Verify contact information” error in Apple Pay. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
