6 Solutions to Fix IPhone Calls Failed Issue

Even though a cellular phone has to be much more than a simple device used for calls, this is still an essential feature. And the inability to make or take calls is a debilitating problem for every user. That’s what seems to be the case for some iPhone users.

If the hardware isn’t the problem, then some of the steps we enlisted below should help you work it out.

How to Fix iPhone Calls Failed Issue

Solution 1 – Turn Airplane mode On and then Off

There are only so many things that can provoke such a serious issue. But, don’t worry, the list of troubleshooting steps is short and simple. Hopefully, helpful, too. Let’s start with the simplest one, and that’s turning Airplane mode on and then off.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Toggle Airplane mode on.
  3. Wait for some time and turn it off.
  4. Try making a call.

Solution 2 – Disable the “Do not disturb” mode

You don’t have to completely disable it, you might as well tweak the settings to allow receiving phone calls. However, for the sake of troubleshooting, we suggest disabling it and looking for changes.

Here’s how to disable the “Do not disturb” mode on an iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Toggle the “Do not disturb” mode off.
  3. Try making a call.

Solution 3 – Make sure you haven’t blocked the caller

Another possible reason why the incoming calls are not coming through is a blocked caller ID. You might’ve blocked the caller by accident and thus, all incoming calls from that caller’s ID will fail.

Follow these steps to check whether that’s the case:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Phone.
  3. Choose Call blocking & identification.
  4. Confirm that the call receiver’s ID isn’t blocked.

Solution 4 – Reinsert SIM card

Reinserting the SIM card might help as well. The SIM card should stay firm in the compartment at all times. However, it won’t cost you a thing to remove it carefully from the compartment and insert it again. We suggest powering off your device before doing so.

After that, the problem should be gone. Check the network reception to confirm that the SIM card is placed properly. On the other hand, if the issue is persistent, continue with the steps below.

Solution 5 – Reset network settings

Another viable step is to reset all network settings and configure them from scratch. This action will delete all saved network credentials, but it can also help you address network-related bugs on an iPhone.

Follow these steps to reset network settings to default values:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Open General.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Network Settings.

Solution 6 – Reset the device to factory settings

The final option you can try before contacting your carrier or eventually the authorized service is to reset your handset to factory values. This might be a drag, but it should tackle the issue. In addition, you can restore your data later on from iCloud or by using the iTunes client.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Open General.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Choose Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. Enter your Apple ID when prompted.
  6. After the device resets, restore everything from iCloud.

With that said, we can wrap it up. In case you’re still experiencing reception problems or are unable to take or make calls on an iPhone, we suggest contacting your carrier. Also, make sure to tell us whether you’ve solved the problem in the comments section below.
