Wi-Fi issues are often barely explainable. The one we are trying to address today is quite strange, although it seems that it’s not rare at all. Namely, some iPhone users report that they enter the correct Wi-Fi password but the phone is not connecting.
If you, too, have issues like this one, check the 5 solutions we listed below. In the end, don’t forget to tell us if these solutions helped you address the problem.

Why does my iPhone keep saying incorrect password for Wi-Fi but the password is correct?
1. Restart your device and try again
The first thing you should try is restarting your iPhone. This usually addresses the majority of minor issues. After a restart, try connecting to the network. We recommend doing the same with your wireless router.
If that doesn’t help, enable Airplane mode on your iPhone and disable it after some time. You can do that from the Control Center. Also, disconnect some devices from the same network In case that fails as well, check the next step on the list.
2. Forget the network
The next thing you can do is Forget the network, enter the WPA/WPA2 password, and check for improvements. If you are not sure how to Forget This Network on your iPhone, check the steps we listed below:
- Open Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Tap on the troubling network SSID and tap Forget This Network.
- Try signing in again.
3. Change the band frequency on your router
Most modern routers offer a dual-band Wi-Fi frequency. You can try switching from 2.4GHz to 5GHz and vice versa. This can be done in router settings. To access these settings, check on your service provider. You’ll need to use a device that’s connected to the router and open a browser.
Once there, you’ll need to enter an IP address in the Address Bar and sign in with your credentials. That’s where you should look for Wi-Fi settings and switch between Wi-Fi bands. If this doesn’t solve the problem, you can switch to the lowest WPA security type and change the password.
4. Make sure that SSID is visible
While in router settings, make sure that your SSID (Wi-Fi network) is visible and not hidden. This shouldn’t be an issue but, based on reports, many users haven’t had any luck making the hidden SSID work on their iPhones.
So, make the network visible and connect again. If your iPhone still fails to connect, try resetting network settings.
5. Reset Network Settings
Finally, if none of the previous steps worked for you, consider resetting your network settings. This action will restore all network-related settings to their default values. In addition, all Bluetooth pairings, VPN configurations, and cellular settings are deleted, as well.
Here’s how to reset network settings on your iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Choose Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Select Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings.
- Confirm when prompted.
Hopefully, after this, you’ll be able to connect to Wi-Fi without issues. Thank you for reading and do share your thoughts or questions in the comments section below. We look forward to hearing from you.
