The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is the pinnacle of Android and, as expected, these devices powered by Samsung’s take on Android 13 called OneUI 5, provide users with a premium experience in all segments. Still, you might need to do some handy work to keep things in shape. The most common action every Android user should know is how to clear the app and system cache. So, today, we made sure to explain how to clear the cache on your Samsung Galaxy S22.

How do I clear the cache on my Samsung Galaxy s22?
You can clear the app cache on your Samsung Galaxy S22 in Settings > Apps or wipe the cache partition in Recovery mode. In the meanwhile, you can use built-in Device care to empty RAM or Files by Google to delete temporary files. Learn everything below.
1. Use Device Care
One mainly wants to clear the cache to speed up the device and individual apps or mitigate some system hiccups caused by pilled-up locally-stored temporary data. Now, the next two steps focus on that exact procedure but first we have to mention Device care which deals with the RAM.
This built-in system tool tracks battery usage, storage, and RAM while also providing antivirus security powered by McAfee. In this case, we want to focus on RAM. If you open Settings > Battery and device care on your Samsung Galaxy S22 and then select Memory, you’ll be able to empty the RAM.
On the other hand, if you want to focus on temporary files (not to be mixed with the app cache), you can download “Files by Google” and use it to clear a lot of unnecessary files.
2. Clear cache and app data
To clear cache data from the system and third-party apps, you’ll need to navigate to Settings > Apps and select Storage in individual apps. Some apps hoard cache and an abundance of local data. The difference between the two is that cache is temporary data that doesn’t hold any important information while local app data stores plenty of important things (app preferences, media files, credentials, etc.), and clearing it will virtually reinstall the app.
In this case, we’ll focus on the temporary data that’s usually referred to as the app cache. Now, you can’t clear the cache from all apps at once but need to do it on a per-app basis, by hand. Luckily, you can sort apps by Size to pinpoint apps that store the most cache.
Here’s how to clear cache and app data on your Samsung Galaxy S22:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select an app. You can sort apps by Size and tap Show system processes to list system apps that are, by default, not visible in the apps list.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache to clear app cache or tap Clear data (or Manage storage > Clear All Data in some apps) to clear app data.
3. Wipe the cache partition
Besides the cache stored by apps, there’s also the cache partition that stores cache for all under-the-hood system operations. Now, in order to clear the cache partition, you’ll need to enter the Recovery mode on your Galaxy S22. And to do that, you’ll need to connect your smartphone to your PC with the out-of-the-box data cable.
One thing to remember is to tread carefully once you access the Recovery mode because Wipe Data/Factory Reset is something you definitely don’t want to choose by accident. Unless you want to reset your Android to factory settings for some reason.
Also, there are other useful features under the same menu like Repair apps (optimizing apps for possible major system changes) and Locale and Graphics tests.
Here’s how to wipe the cache partition on your Samsung Galaxy S22:
- Power off your smartphone.
- Connect your S22 to your PC with the USB data cable.
- Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button.
- Hold both buttons and let go when the Samsung logo appears.
- Use the Volume keys to navigate through the menu and stop on Wipe Cache Partition.
- Use the Power button to confirm the selection.
- Now, choose Reboot now and follow through with the setup procedure once again.
