How to Sync Calendar on iPhone
1. Restart your device and check the System Status
Firstly, try to close and re-open the Calendar app. After that, restart your device and give it another try. If this doesn’t work, a good idea would be to see if the problem is only on your side, or if we are looking at a global outage of certain Apple services.
To do that, navigate to Apple’s System Status website and confirm that iCloud Calendar is working as intended. If that’s the case, and the Calendar is still not syncing on your iPhone, continue to the next step.
2. Update iOS
Keeping your device firmware is quite important, especially in iOS where a limited number of devices often means that major issues and downsides will get polished. Eventually. So, if there’s a bug with a system app, which iCloud Calendar is, chances are that updates will fix it.
So, make sure to navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install all available updates before moving to the next step on the list.
3. Refresh Calendars
Alternatively, you can try and refresh all calendars from the app. This will load all Calendars again and, hopefully, allow them to re-sync to iCloud.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Open Calendar.
- Tap on the Calendars tab.
- Swipe down to refresh events from calendars.
4. Check Calendar Settings
There are multiple options you can check in order to troubleshoot the problem at hand. Firstly, you’ll probably want to ensure that Calendars is enabled in iCloud Settings. After that, make sure to check the timeframe of Calendar updates and try shuffling between a selected timeframe and All Events to get the Calendar to sync.
Follow these steps to try the aforementioned steps on your iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap on your Apple profile at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- Make sure that Calendars are enabled.
- Then, get back to Settings and open Calendar.
- Tap Sync.
- Switch between All Events (which is the default setting) and any other timeframe to force start sync. On the other hand, if you are on any limited timeframe for Events, switch to All Events.
If the Calendar is still not syncing on your iPhone, go to the next step.
5. Restart iCloud backup for Calendar
Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings > Profile > iCloud and disable Calendars. After restarting your device, you can re-enable it and wait for Events to sync.
Here we must mention network connectivity which should go without saying. Make sure that your network is stable. If you have any underlying connectivity issues, check our article to find applicable solutions. You can read more about it in our fix article focused on Wi-Fi issues on iPhones.
6. Sign out and sign in with your Apple account
Finally, if none of the previous steps worked for you, try signing out and signing in with the Apple account that you have your Calendar Events on. This worked for some people, although there’s no certainty that even this will fix it.
To sign out and sign in again, navigate to Settings > Profile and log out of your account. Then log in again after a restart, and check for improvements.
That should do it. Thank you for reading and feel free to share your questions or suggestions with us. The comments section is just below.
