How to get the Apple Health widget on iPhone

apple health widget iphone

Users love having widgets on their Home Screens. Widgets are not only aesthetically pleasing but are also useful tools that offer various insights from our favorite apps. However, even though it should be a standard, not every iOS app has its own widget. For example, there’s no Apple Health widget on the iPhone.

So, we’re going to answer why you can’t add the Apple Health widget to your Home Screen here, and I’ll give you a few alternatives to make up for Apple’s decision not to include the Health widget in iOS.

Health widget on iPhone: Where is it?

Apple Health doesn’t support a widget, and there’s no way to put its health data stats on the Home Screen. Most people believe that’s because Apple wants to encourage people to buy an Apple Watch. That makes perfect sense since wearing an Apple Watch allows you to take the most from Apple Health. It will also help you make the decision in favor of buying the watch if you can’t make up your mind about it.

But if you don’t plan on buying an Apple Watch, not having the Apple Health widget on your iPhone certainly won’t make you get one. So, you can either use the app itself or turn to more or less convenient alternatives.

Use a third-party app to get the Apple Health widget

A few developers make apps that help bring the Apple Health widget to the Home Screen. Two of the most popular choices are Hidgets and HealthWidget+. Both get the job done, but both come with a drawback which may be a dealbreaker for you.

HealthWidget+

HealthWidget+ is free to use and you can set it up in just a few seconds. It does what’s advertised without sacrificing functionality. As soon as you install the app, the Apple Health widget will be available in Widgets, and you can add it to your Home Screen. The widget shows calories burned, steps walked, and flights climbed.

However, the biggest drawback of HealthWidget+ is its design. You can tell right away that it’s a third-party app because the icons don’t resemble Apple’s style. I know how important the visual appearance of the Home Screen is important to iPhone users, and having this widget on the screen simply disrupts the flow. On the other hand, if you don’t care about the looks, HealthWidget+ is just what you’re looking for, because it displays the most important stats and eliminates the need to even use the Apple Health app.

Hidgets

On the opposite side of the spectrum, we have Hidgets. This is not only the best Apple Health widget but one of the most advanced widgets in general. The app doesn’t offer a single widget, but multiple choices for different data. For example, you can have separate widgets for steps, calories, distance, and more. You can basically dedicate a whole Home Screen page to Health widgets, and you’ll have all the data you want at a glance.

Hidgets is beautifully designed and even has many customization options. You can adjust the looks of widgets to your liking and align them perfectly with the rest of your Home Screen. It’s minimalistic, and practical, and looks great in both Light and Dark modes.

However, the only drawback of Hidgets is that it’s not free. If you want to have all these neat widgets on your Home Screen, you’ll have to pay $2.99 to download Hidgets from the App Store.

In the end, it all comes down to your personal preference. If you want all the possible data on your Home Screen, along with numerous customization options, and you don’t mind paying for it, I’m sure Hidgets will be your favorite. But if you just want something that gets the job done, and doesn’t cost anything, HealthWidget+ is probably the way to go.
